Taiwan’s state oil and gas firm CPC has secured a 5% stake in one of Qatar’s North Field East (NFE) LNG expansion trains, equivalent to 1.25% in the 32mn t/y project. Alongside this it signed up to a 27-year 4mn t/y LNG supply and purchase agreement (SPA).
Qatar has signed a series of similar long-term LNG deals with both Europe and Asian partners for the ongoing NFE expansion project which is due to start operations in 2026 (MEES, 10 November 2023 &MEES, 27 October 2023). Key EPC contractor TechnipEnergies says in its 2 May earnings call that it is seeing “the continued ramp-up towards peak activity on Qatar NFE” as well as “a growing contribution” to the firm’s revenue from Qatar’s follow-on 16mn t/y NFS expansion.
