Iraq is on track to cut gas flaring to a record low this year with officials claiming that the country now captures about 65% of its gross gas output. Izzat Sabir, Iraq’s Deputy Oil Minister for Gas Affairs, says 2.17bn cfd of 3.36bn cfd wellhead output is now captured, with 1.19bn cfd flared – a record low 35% share and a 12-year low in absolute terms (see chart).
