Having boosted crude processing capacity well above 1mn b/d over the past two years, Iraq is now doubling down on its target of ending gasoline imports by the end of this year.

Hamid Younes, Deputy Oil Minister for Refining Affairs, while reaffirming the target, told Iraqi TV this week that “available capacity” for gasoline production now matches demand at 30mn l/d (189,000 b/d), with the addition of secondary units totaling 101,000 b/d having more than doubled capacity over the past year (see table).
