Adnoc Logistics and Services (L&S) announced on 1 July that it has awarded South Korean firms Samsung Heavy Industries and Hanwha Ocean up to $2.5bn shipbuilding contracts for 8-10 new LNG carriers to be delivered from 2028. The firm currently has 14 LNG carriers and this will increase the figure to at least 22, with the new vessels to be time chartered for 20 years to Adnoc Group subsidiaries.
Each tanker will have 174,000m³ capacity and feature MEGA and XDF2.2 engines, which are capable of running on LNG. (CONTINUED - 147 WORDS)
