Eni, Egypt’s top gas producer, ended a run of four consecutive quarterly declines as its output in the North African state edged up 1% to 1.219bn cfd for Q2. But this was still the second lowest since mid-2020 with average 1H output of 1.213bn cfd down 10% year-on-year and 19% below the peak first half figure of 1.492bn cfd hit in 2021 (see chart). Back then gross output from the firm’s key Zohr gas field (Eni 50%op) was 2.96bn cfd: it has since slumped to 1.85bn cfd on water breakthrough.
