Ten months on from inking an MoU for “new fields of partnership and business opportunities” (MEES, 24 November, 2023), Algerian state oil and gas giant Sonatrach and Turkish contractor Rönesans on 9 September announced FID on a 472,500 t/y propane dehydrogenation and polypropylene (PDH/PP) complex slated for the Turkish Mediterranean port of Ceyhan.
If this sounds familiar, it’s because the two firms evidently jumped the gun in announcing breaking ground on the same project in October 2021 (MEES, 15 October 2021). Back then the project was costed at $1.7bn. Rönesans will have 66% and Sonatrach 34%, with the Algerian state firm charged with supplying the propane feedstock. (CONTINUED - 103 WORDS)
