QatarEnergy on 1 September announced that it will build a 2GW solar PV plant at Dukhan on the west of the peninsula. Dukhan is home to QatarEnergy’s 176,000 b/d Dukhan oilfield which produces the emirate’s Qatar Land export grade. The area has particularly high horizontal irradiation levels of 4kWh/1461kWp, state offtaker Kahramaa says.
“Developing solar power plants is one of Qatar’s most crucial initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions, develop sustainability projects, and diversify electricity production,” says QatarEnergy CEO and energy minister Saad al-Kaabi. (CONTINUED - 713 WORDS)
