Iraqi repair teams, backed by a heavy security force, have begun repairing a 40km stretch of pipeline damaged in sabotage attacks, which have prevented Iraq from exporting oil through the north to the Turkish port of Ceyhan for nearly three months. Repairs will take 10-14 days, Iraqi media reported, quoting a North Oil Company (NOC) source.
The stoppage, since 2 March, has deprived Iraq of revenues, with the northern Kirkuk area particularly hit, and restricted Iraq’s ability to export oil to its maximum capacity as output from northern fields has been halved due to lack of storage capacity. (CONTINUED - 412 WORDS)
