Dubai’s Petrixo planned 23,000 b/d biofuel refinery in Fujairah will be the first commercial-scale renewable jet fuel production facility outside North America, according to US firm UOP, whose renewable jet fuel and diesel technology the plant will use.
Petrixo says the plant will cost $800mn for 4Q15 start-up (MEES, 14 March). UOP says jet fuel from this process can be blended up to 50% with petroleum-based jet fuel to reduce aircraft greenhouse gas emissions by 65-85%, while its diesel is a “drop-in replacement for traditional diesel” but with a higher cetane value. Petrixo sees a market for biofuels in the GCC and Middle East. (CONTINUED - 232 WORDS)
