Dubai has expanded its already ambitious solar power plans further, under a new clean energy strategy. But ‘strategic’ coal-fired plants remain.
Dubai has launched its ‘Clean Energy Strategy 2050.’ This envisages the emirate getting 75% of its electricity from “clean” sources (including nuclear) by 2050. “Our goal is to become the city with the smallest carbon footprint in the world by 2050,” Dubai Ruler Shaikh Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktum says.
