There is no diplomatic love lost between Abu Dhabi and Tehran. But the two sides are quietly negotiating the possible supply of Iranian natural gas to the UAE.
Iran has in the past year managed to raise its natural gas production by around 20%, and has often made much of its potential role as supplier of pipeline gas to its neighbors. Iran is also reported to have reopened negotiations with Sharjah-based Crescent Petroleum for the supply of gas to the northern UAE emirate, though international arbitration proceedings stand in the way of a swift end to the dispute between the two over price (MEES, 15 August 2014).
