As Libya’s Presidency Council seeks to establish a Government of National Accord (GNA) in Tripoli (see above), several oil fields were this week evacuated for security reasons, while Islamic State (IS) launched deadly attacks in Misrata and Bani Waleed.
Local officials name oil fields either completely or partially evacuated as Samah field, operated by the Waha consortium of National Oil Corporation (NOC) and three US firms (NOC 59.16%, ConocoPhillips and Marathon 16.33% each, Hess 8.16%); the 15,000 b/d Baida (NC-47) field, operated by NOC subsidiary Agoco; and the Tibisti field (Areas 89 and 105) operated by the Harouge joint venture of NOC and Canada’s Suncor.
