The UAE’s Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa), which overseas supplies to the northern emirates, has lined up Germany’s Siemens to build a 2.2GW gas-fired power plant. This would more than treble the authority’s existing 703MW generating capacity.
Fewa, which provides electricity and water to Ras al-Khaimah, Ajman, Fujairah and Umm al-Quwain, says Siemens will develop the plant in partnership with private sector firms as an independent power producer project (IPP). (CONTINUED - 268 WORDS)
