Egypt’s award of the 200MW Kom Ombo solar photovoltaic (PV) project to Saudi private developer Acwa Power secured a purchase price for electricity of US¢2.48/kWh, according to Minister of Electricity Muhammad Shaker.
The price is not only a record low for North Africa but also puts Egypt not far above Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia in terms of its ability to secure a low levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) from project bidders. (CONTINUED - 716 WORDS)
