Sudan’s military rulers and civilian opposition groups signed a deal this week agreeing to a power-sharing agreement, three months after the ouster of former president Omar al-Bashir (MEES, 12 April). It has been a tumultuous three months that has seen a number of clashes between the military and opposition groups (MEES, 7 June).
The signing was labelled a “historic moment” by the ruling military council’s deputy chief Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo after he put pen to paper. Talks intensified over the last few weeks as African Union and Ethiopian mediators stepped in. (CONTINUED - 163 WORDS)
