Libya’s state power-firm Gecol finally fired up the first unit of its seven-years in the making 640MW Ubari power plant on 14 July providing much needed relief to the western coastal areas’ war-hit and dilapidated power infrastructure.
The remaining three units are scheduled to gradually come online by September, but even then, Gecol will be nowhere near to providing sufficient power to keep the lights on. (CONTINUED - 727 WORDS)
