This week’s visit to Kuwait of Saudi Minister of State for Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, has sparked renewed speculation over the potentialrestart of output from the Partitioned Neutral Zone (PNZ). Output from the PNZ, a region straddling the two countries’ border, is split 50:50 between the neighboring states, but was shut in over the course of 2014 and 2015 due to disputes over its management.
Kuwait’s state news agency Kuna reported that the 24 July talks came amid a series of consultations and coordination over how to restart PNZ production. These discussions have resolved all of the major issues according to government spokesperson Tariq al-Mazram: just “technical issues” remain outstanding. (CONTINUED - 803 WORDS)
