Officials from nine key Opec and ‘Opec+’ producers led by Saudi Arabia and Russia will meet 12 September on the sidelines of the World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi, some three months ahead of the next scheduled full Opec meeting on 5-6 December in Vienna.
The sense of urgency comes as crude prices have fallen below $60/B since early August despite Opec having cut production to a five-year low (MEES, 9 August).
