The Satorp joint venture of Saudi Aramco and France’s Total will shut the 200,000 b/d second crude distillation unit (CDU) at its 440,000 b/d refinery at Jubail on the Saudi Gulf coast for six weeks’ maintenance from 13 January to 29 February. During this time the first CDU will be run normally, the JV said in an 8 January announcement to the Saudi Tadawul exchange.
Satorp’s total CDU capacity is 440,000 b/d, up from 400,000 b/d after a debottlenecking program at the first CDU in early 2018. A second debottlenecking, which will take total throughput capacity to 460,000 b/d by adding 20,000 b/d to the second CDU, is due for completion this year (MEES, 8 February).
