The US exported 3.58mn tons of LNG in November, a third straight monthly record as the country’s ‘first wave’ of LNG projects ramp-up to full capacity. The latest start-up was train 2 of the Freeport LNG plant in Texas, which shipped its first cargo late last month.
Asia, home of all of the top five global LNG importers (MEES, 10 January) has also typically been the key market for US exporters. But European imports have leapt in recent months, with a new record 2.06mn tons – well ahead of Asia’s 1.16mn tons – sailing for Europe in November. (CONTINUED - 263 WORDS)
