Qatar’s latest LNG sales deal will see it as much as double volumes to nearby Kuwait, the Middle East’s largest importer of the fuel (MEES, 10 January). Kuwait typically imports as much as 1.5mn t/y from Qatar, but has signed up to take up to 3mn t/y from its neighbor.
With as much as 30mn t/y of existing contracts expiring between now and 2027, and QP planning to add 49mn t/y of domestic liquefaction over the same period, Qatar has a lot of volumes to place in the market in the coming years (MEES, 29 November 2019).
