Key producers in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region are eying sizeable production gains over the course of 2020 which will shore up the region’s recovering oil sector. While the DNO-operated 120,000 b/d Tawke license appears to have peaked (MEES, 17 January), IOCs are working on securing sizeable gains from the region’s mid-tier fields which could push overall output up towards 550,000 b/d by year-end.
Overall, output in Iraqi Kurdistan rose by some 50,000 b/d last year, exiting the year at around 500,000 b/d (MEES, 13 December 2019). Much of this increase was driven by the Atrush field (UAE state firm Taqa 47.4%op, Canada’s Shamaran 27.6%, KRG 25%) and the Sarsang license (HKN 62%, Total 18%, KRG 20%). (CONTINUED - 600 WORDS)
