Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity began testing a transmission grid link with Sudan on 12 January. The 170km link will operate at 220kV and has capacity to deliver 300MW of electricity, although the line was to be run at up to 50MW during testing. The link runs from a substation in the Toshka Lakes area in Egypt to another at Wadi Halfa in Sudan.
