Mena regional power generators are looking to bring 10 key power plants with a combined capacity of almost 14.5GW into commercial operation in 2020. Two of the plants introduce a power technology to the region for the first time, while another will be only the region’s second nuclear power plant.
The largest of these projects is not only a first for the region, but also a world-beater – the 4GW Jazan integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power plant, built on Saudi Arabia’s southwestern Red Sea coast and integrated with a 400,000 b/d refinery (see table). (CONTINUED - 956 WORDS)
