US major ExxonMobil will drill a total of seven wells while investing $332mn on two offshore Mediterranean blocks it was awarded by Egypt’s oil ministry in late December (MEES, 3 January).
At the Northeast El Amriya Block which was awarded following a 2018 bid round, Exxon is due to drill four wells and invest $220mn. At North Marakia Offshore, which was not part of a bid round and is located in the country’s relatively virgin western Mediterranean offshore, the US firm will drill three wells and invest $112mn.
