Faced with sizeable gas shortages, Iraq is pressing ahead with projects which it hopes can add 1.2bn cfd of gas processing capacity by the end of 2023.
The most advanced of these is Basra Gas Company’s (BGC: South Gas Company 51%, Shell 44%, Mitsubishi 5%) project to install 400mn cfd of processing capacity at Ar-Ratawi. FID on the two new trains was taken last year (MEES, 15 February 2019) and deputy oil minster Hamid Younis said this week that the ministry is targeting end-2023 completion. Once the project is completed, BGC will be able to process 1.4bn cfd of associated gas from Rumaila, Zubair and West Qurna-1. (CONTINUED - 396 WORDS)
