Total and Qatar Petroleum announced another substantial gas discovery offshore South Africa on 28 October, but have cut short their planned exploration program.
The partners at Block 11B/12B (Total 45%op, Qatar Petroleum 25%, CNR International 20% and South African consortium Main Street 10%), announced discovery of the Luiperd gas field 175km offshore South Africa. The Luiperd-1X well was spudded in August some 50km east of the block’s Brulpadda discovery (MEES, 4 September). Brulpadda was discovered in early 2019 and reserves are estimated at 1bn boe, implying 5-6tcf on a ‘gas equivalent’ basis. (CONTINUED - 951 WORDS)
