Initially due to be announced on 26 October, the award of a solitary block in Israel’s offshore has been pushed back. Block 72, which lies in Israel’s northern offshore, adjacent to the disputed maritime border with Lebanon, was put on offer on 23 June (MEES, 26 June).
The block received two bids, one from Greek firm Energean which holds the adjacent Karish field to the west and the other from US firm Noble (now Chevron) and Israeli firm Delek who previously held the coterminous Alon D block which the firms believe contains part of Energean’s Karish North discovery (MEES, 25 September).
