Kufpec, the overseas arm of Kuwait state oil firm KPC, is selling its only Tunisian asset, 22.5% of the 600 b/d Sidi El Kilani field, to Canadian minnow Zenith Energy. The $500,000 deal, subject to regulatory approval, will see Kufpec end its 37-year presence in Tunisia and Zenith partner China’s CNPC (22.5%) and Tunisian state firm Etap (55%).
Sidi El Kilani was once one of Tunisia’s largest producers. Kufpec discovered the field on its North Kairouan permit in 1989 and managed to hit 17,000 b/d in 1997 (MEES, 12 March 2001). (CONTINUED - 85 WORDS)
