Algeria says it plans to bring online 4GW of solar PV capacity by 2024 through a $3.2-$3.6bn “mega-project” named “TAFOUK1” as part of its efforts to increase the share of renewables in its gas-dependent electricity production. The project will be spread across 10 provinces for a total area of 64km2, according to a 20 May government statement.
