United Nations nuclear energy watchdog the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) complained on 15 June of Iran’s refusal to allow its inspectors access to two sites where nuclear experiments are alleged to have taken place in the early 2000s, prompting European governments to call on Tehran to answer the IAEA’s questions.
Speaking at the Vienna-based agency’s Board of Governors meeting on 15 June, IAEA director general Rafael Grossi said that “for over four months, Iran has denied us access to two locations” and “for almost a year” has not engaged in “substantive discussions to clarify our questions” regarding undeclared nuclear materials and activities.
