Kuwait’s state downstream firm KNPC has announced the completion of a gas handling project that ought to boost crude oil production capacity from fields in the west of the country. KNPC stated on 16 June that the Acid Gas Removal Plant (AGRP) at Mina al-Ahmadi refinery had been completed. The project is part of the Clean Fuels Program (CFP) aimed at reducing emissions from Kuwait’s downstream operations.
KNPC’s upstream counterpart KOC last year attributed the decline in West Kuwait crude oil production capacity from 530,000 b/d to 480,000 b/d in 2018/19 to the “unavailability” of AGRP (MEES, 20 December 2019).
