Italian major Eni has signed up to study Bahrain’s Offshore Block 2 in an agreement inked this week with state upstream firm Tatweer Petroleum. The 2,200km² block lies directly south of Block 1, for which Eni signed an exploration and production sharing agreement (EPSA) last year (MEES, 3 May 2019).
Eni had planned to drill a first well on Block 1 in the first half of this year, but the coronavirus pandemic has disrupted those plans. Nevertheless, its move for Block 2 demonstrates that the firm remains committed to Bahrain. (CONTINUED - 277 WORDS)
