With Egypt eying a gas deficit (MEES, 17 September), discussions between Chevron, operator of Israel’s giant 22.7tcf Leviathan field, and the Egyptian authorities have intensified in recent weeks over the proposed tie back of Leviathan to the under-utilized 7.2mn t/y ELNG plant at Idku near Alexandria.
