Algeria’s 2022 draft budget is guiding for more than $100bn in combined fiscal deficits between 2021 and 2024, adding further risk to an already uncertain recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The draft plan sees Algeria extending its run of deficits to a 16th straight year by 2024, a cumulative $256bn since 2008, the last time a surplus was recorded (see chart). (CONTINUED - 813 WORDS)
