Cyprus’ gas-fired plans are gathering pace as the conversion of the Galea LNG tanker to a 125,000m³ floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) progresses at a shipyard in Singapore. Construction has yet to begin on the jetty and pipeline needed to supply imported gas to the country’s largest power plant at Vasilikos on the south coast but work is expected to be complete by the Autumn of 2022.
Two 220MW combined cycle gas turbines (CCGTs) at the existing 868MW Vasilikos plant are already capable of running on gas. (CONTINUED - 1381 WORDS)
