Electricity consumption is soaring in Kuwait. Peak demand has been smashing monthly records for each month so far this year, and April was no exception. Peak demand was 11.15GW last month, a whopping 2GW (22%) more than over the same period last year (see chart). The same holds true for total generation which has also soared, to a total of 18.98TWh over the first four months of the year, up by 9.9% year-on-year.
With associated gas production still curbed by the Opec+ production cuts, Kuwait will doubtless have to be burning increased volumes of liquids to carry the burden. It has also increased LNG imports so far this year according to figures from data intelligence firm Kpler. (CONTINUED - 135 WORDS)
