Algeria’s 4.5mn t/y LNG export terminal at Skikda has been offline since 11 June due to a “technical incident,” according to state oil and gas giant Sonatrach. But spare capacity at Sonatrach’s other LNG export terminal at Arzew means overall volumes are unlikely to be meaningfully impacted.
Sonatrach said on 19 June that it shut down Skikda following “a sudden failure of a gas turbine control mechanism.” The last cargo to load before the incident was the Cheikh El Mokrani on 11 June which unloaded its cargo at Spain’s Sagunto import terminal on 13 June, according to data intelligence firm Kpler.
