Abu Dhabi state renewables firm Masdar has signed a preliminary agreement to develop 2GW of solar capacity in southern and central Iraq. The agreement was signed on 24 June via a videoconference attended by Iraq’s Minister of Oil and Head of the Energy Ministerial Council, Ihsan Ismaael and National Investment Commission (NIC) chair Suha Najjar, as well as UAE Energy Minister Suhail al-Mazrouei and Masdar CEO Mohamed Al-Ramahi.
According to Ms Najjar, Masdar will deliver the project as an IPP. Mr Ismaael subsequently told the Asharq News TV channel that the deal was a “heads of agreement” (HOA). (CONTINUED - 276 WORDS)
