As Iraq’s October parliamentary elections loom, the fervor of restoring Iraq’s national oil company has again heated up. The head of Iraq’s Parliamentary Energy Commission Haybat al-Halbousi sent a letter on 29 June to oil minister Ihsan Ismaael demanding that the ministry halt recent measures to forming the Iraq National Oil Company (INOC).
The letter came just five days after Iraq’s cabinet had decided to appoint a number of members including former minister Thamir al-Ghadhban, to the INOC board of directors. (CONTINUED - 732 WORDS)
