Iraq’s oil minister Ihsan Ismaael told MPs earlier this month that Iraq has reached agreements for 7GW of solar power generation. Details are scant, but most of these agreements are far from a done deal and considerable work is required just to finalize contracts. Overall Iraq targes 10-12GW by 2025.
To date, the most concrete projects cover just 755MW via Iraq’s debut solar power bid round held earlier this year (MEES, 26 February). It is still not clear whether these projects have been fully awarded. (CONTINUED - 274 WORDS)
