Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune appointed finance minister Aymane Benabderrahmane as the country’s new prime minister on 30 June following legislative elections last month.
Mr Benabderrahmane now faces the difficult task of rebuilding an economy which has been crippled by deep fiscal imbalances and an overwhelming reliance on hydrocarbon revenues (MEES, 25 June).
