Russia’s Gazprom Neft, the oil arm of state gas giant Gazprom, seized upon the return of in-person conferences in the UAE to launch a major charm offensive. The firm sent a major delegation to the SPE’s Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) in Dubai this week, with the sales pitch focusing in particular on Gazprom Neft’s strength in unconventional oil and gas development as well as carbon capture and storage (CCS).
These are two key areas of focus for Abu Dhabi’s Adnoc, and therefore opportunities abound for the likes of Gazprom Neft. Adnoc currently has carbon capture and storage (CCS) capacity of 800,000 t/y through its Al Reyadah scheme, and aims to increase this to 4.3mn t/y by 2030 (MEES, 11 October 2019).
