Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has brought online the long-delayed GC-31 gathering center in the north of the emirate. GC-31 is one of three gathering centers for which contracts worth $2.3bn were awarded in 2014 (MEES, 11 July 2014). All were initially slated to come online in late 2017, but were delayed. The first two, GC-29 and GC-30 were brought online in 2018, but GC-31’s contractor, Dubai-Based Dodsal, ran into serious difficulties.
GC-31 has capacity to handle 100,000 b/d of crude, as well as process 62.5mn cfd of natural gas and 240,000 b/d of treated water. According to a 16 September KOC statement the project includes three separate pipelines linking to export facilities and water treatment stations. Gas is piped to booster station 132 (BS-132).
