Tensions between Libya’s oil minister Mohammed Aoun and National Oil Corporation (NOC) head Mustafa Sanalla reached new heights this week, further clouding the outlook for the country’s key oil sector.
Mr Aoun moved to suspend Mr Sanalla from his role on 28 August and ordered an investigation into alleged improper conduct, saying the NOC boss did not obtain necessary permissions to travel abroad and that he failed to appoint a caretaker to run the state oil firm in his absence.
