Kuwait’s state foreign upstream arm Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (Kufpec) made its “first operated offshore exploration discovery” in Indonesia according to a 23 January press release. The Anambas-2X well was drilled to a total depth of 3,200ms in 88ms water depth using a jack-up rig. The well is located on the Anambas Block in the Natuna Sea where the firm holds a 100% operator stake.
Kufpec was awarded Anambas in 2019, and the block sits near the existing Harbour Energy-operated Natuna Block A where Kufpec’s 33.33% share netted it 55mn cfd for 2020. Output from seven producing gas fields is piped 540km southwest to Singapore. (CONTINUED - 262 WORDS)
