Qatar state energy giant QatarEnergy is looking at expanding its East Mediterranean footprint. CEO Saad al-Kaabi this week confirmed that his firm is currently in talks with Beirut and European giants TotalEnergies and Eni to take a 30% stake of Lebanon’s offshore Block 9.
QatarEnergy would essentially be taking the 20% stake relinquished by Russia’s Novatek in September (MEES, 23 September), in addition to 5% from each of Total and Eni, to leave the pair with 35% each (see chart). (CONTINUED - 848 WORDS)
