Algeria’s BP and Equinor-operated In Amenas and In Salah gas projects saw production fall by a combined 12% to 935mn cfd for Q3 2022 (see chart). The reason is partly related to seasonal factors, but it is also true that output remains well below historical highs due to sustained natural decline.
Italy's Eni in September agreed to purchase BP’s stakes of 45.89% in the In Amenas wet gas project and 33.15% at the In Salah dry gas project. The deal is the latest in a string of moves by Eni to deepen its presence in Algeria where it is already the number one foreign producer (MEES, 4 November & MEES, 9 September).
