Kuwait’s oil minister Mohammed al-Fares announced on 14 March that the country’s cabinet has “approved the proposed nomination decree” of Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al Sabah as the new deputy chairman and CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC). The position until recently was held by Hashem Hashem who stepped down in December after serving a single three-year term, and had been replaced on an acting basis by Wafaa al-Zaabi (MEES, 3 December 2021).
Sheikh Nawaf has a long pedigree in Kuwait’s oil and gas sector, and has led KPC’s foreign upstream arm Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) since 2013 (MEES, 24 May 2013). Prior to that he had spent 14 years at KPC, the last eight of which serving as Deputy Managing Director and General Counsel. (CONTINUED - 685 WORDS)
