Greek firm Energean is about to kick off a 3-5 well drilling campaign off Israel with the Stena Icemax in place to drill the 0.7tcf Athena prospect on Block 12. Energean will then drill an appraisal well at the 1.4tcf Karish ‘main’ field ahead of the project’s start-up in the second half of this year (MEES, 21 January). The Icemax will then move to the northeast where it is due to drill a first development well at the 1.2tcf Karish North field which is slated for 2023 start-up.
Energean also holds an option to drill two more exploration wells. The first would target the 1.1tcf Hermes prospect on Block 31 before heading to Block 23 to the east where it would target the 2.7tcf Hercules prospect (see table). (CONTINUED - 170 WORDS)
